The dominant feature of Emerging Europe is Russia, with considerable resources to export and the eighth most populous nation in the world. Russia is re-emerging as a world power, both economically and politically, having spent some time recovering from the collapse of the USSR.
Emerging Europe offers considerable opportunity beyond Russia. Extending from Afghanistan in the south through to the Czech Republic in the west the region offers considerable cultural and geographic diversity. The region borders Asia, the Middle East and developed Europe offering considerable opportunities into the future.
